Russel Perry appointed as Non-Executive Chairman

Stirling Capital is pleased to announce the appointment of former President and Life Member of the Urban Development Institute of Australia (WA), Dr Russel Perry to the role of Non-Executive Chairman.

Dr Perry assumed his responsibilities as head of the Board at the beginning of March 2014, bringing to the company over 20 years experience in the property industry in Western Australia.

He is a member of several private and public organisations and is currently the Chairman of the Governing Council of West Coast Institute of Training and of RugbyWA (The Western Force). He was made a member of the Order of Australia (AM) in 2012 for services to the community of Western Australia as a leader in urban design, through contributions to the sport of Rugby Union and to the education and training sector.

Russel has been involved with the multi-award winning residential developments at Capricorn and Ellenbrook, holding senior management positions in the Capricorn Village Joint Venture and LWP Property Group.

Stirling Capital’s previous Chairman, Mr Jim Freemantle, retired at the end of 2013 after two and a half years in the role.

Mr Freemantle retires from an impressive 35-year career in real estate and banking, holding a number of notable roles in private and public bodies throughout Australia.

In 2013 Mr Freemantle was made an Officer of the Order of Australia (AO) for distinguished service to the community of Western Australia as a contributor to social welfare, church and sporting organisations, through senior business and financial roles, and to the arts.

Stirling Capital Director Luke Reinecke expressed his best wishes to Mr Freemantle on his recent retirement and welcomed Dr Perry into his role as Chairman.

“Jim Freemantle was a great asset to Stirling Capital and added immeasurable value to the company during his time as Chairman. On behalf of the company and all of our employees we would like to wish Jim all the best in his retirement.”

“We would also like to officially welcome Russel Perry into his role as Chairman of Stirling Capital. Russel’s expertise and experience should prove invaluable to the strategic development of the Stirling Capital Group, and we look forward to continued strong growth.”
